How we handle Umbraco-specific gotchas
Document types are the main technical piece. Umbraco’s doc type system is flexible and often deeply nested, with content models that make sense in Umbraco’s tree structure but need to be flattened or restructured for WordPress. We map each doc type to the right WordPress structure (custom post type, custom fields, or taxonomy) during the audit, so nothing gets lost when the content model changes shape.
The other one is nested content and composition. Umbraco lets editors build complex nested content blocks, and those don’t have a direct WordPress equivalent. We rebuild that flexibility using WordPress’s block editor and custom fields. It usually ends up just as flexible for your editors once they’re used to it, without needing a developer on standby for routine changes.
