Template-locked design.
You can customize within a template, but you can’t break out of its structure. Once you need a layout Squarespace didn’t anticipate, you’re stuck.

How we handle Squarespace-specific gotchas
The biggest one is custom code. Squarespace sites often have code injected into headers, footers, or individual pages to work around the platform’s limits. That code doesn’t just carry over. We audit every custom code block during the assessment phase and rebuild the underlying functionality properly in WordPress, not a copy-paste of a workaround that was already fighting the platform.
The second one is content structure. Squarespace’s blog and page systems don’t always map cleanly to WordPress’s posts and pages, especially on older sites that have been restructured a few times. We rebuild the content hierarchy from scratch instead of forcing a 1-to-1 import that would leave things disorganized. It takes more hands-on work than a straight file export, but it’s a solved problem for us at this point.
